There's something real in the fact that we first know a child
through their expressions of wants and fears.
There's something real in the way that our holy emerge --
denying their wants, allaying our fears.
There's something real in fact that I'm mostly aware
of laundry,
and spreadsheets,
and metal on metal
as brake pads wear away.
